 The WHO noted, "Government teams are moving across 97,941 villages in 75 districts over five days in this activity which began May 5 in India's most populous state with a population of 230 million." 

The activity involved an aggressive house-to-house test and treat program with medicine kits.

The WHO explained, "Each monitoring team has two members who visit homes in villages and remote hamlets to test everyone with symptoms of COVID-19 using Rapid Antigen Test kits. Those who test positive are quickly isolated and given a medicine kit with advice on disease management."

The medicines comprising the kit were not identified as part of the Western media blackout at the time. As a result, the contents were as secret as the sauce at McDonald's.

The WHO continued, "On the inaugural day, WHO field officers monitored over 2,000 government teams and visited at least 10,000 households."

This news story was published on the WHO Official Website in India. The website details the WHO’s work against COVID-19 in India, including a discussion about their “Online course for Rapid Response Teams.”

The Ugly Mask of Politics

 I will readily admit that I am not a mask expert. I haven’t done research on the efficacy of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Instead, my expertise is in animal models of immunity and infectious disease. But I did have an opinion on how masks would be used in a pandemic before COVID-19, and that opinion was formed during my time working in proximity to PPE experts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (CDC-NIOSH). And when, during the pandemic, policies regarding the use of masks for the public took a sharp turn away from what I had envisioned, I became very curious about why that happened. Did I miss something? Was I completely misremembering what I had been told?

Pandemic Mandates: A Libertarian Perspective

 Libertarians hold that the only morally legitimate use of force is in response to the initiation of force against a person or their property. So when we are determining whether the use of force is ethical (or legal in a libertarian order) we need to know whether the force was initiatory or defensive (in response to initiatory force). Additionally we assume that government is like soylent green, it is just made of people. 

The individuals in government do not have special rights that allow them to initiate force and in fact the degree to which government is legitimate and ethical is the degree to which we as individuals delegate to it the right to use force defensively to protect us from those that would initiate force. The degree to which government initiates force and acts like the criminals it is supposed to protect us from is the degree to which it is illegitimate. We sometimes refer to the illegitimate use of force by government as “statism”. Libertarians, therefore contend that government is mostly just institutionalized criminal activity that is widely accepted by the populace (“the people”) as morally legitimate.
